I have developed an interest in the covert activities of the Estonian Communist movement in the immediate aftermath of World War I: a crucial time during which Soviet Russia simultaneously attempted to shore up its power domestically, and export the world revolution elsewhere. Ethnically Estonian Communists in Russia, Estonia, Scandinavia and the USA were involved in the transport of money and valuables, weapons, propaganda material and people on a route sometimes called the 'Northern Underground'. The research outputs this far include one article.
